Campus Heating System

As noted at last week's Administrative Council meeting, the transition of our central plant systems from heating to cooling has now begun, and the campus boilers have been shut down for the season.  This has resulted in interior temperatures in some buildings today which are below normal set points.  As I communicated to an unhappy faculty member this morning, the evaluation to move from heating to cooling is a tricky one, and somewhat irrevocable once made.   Although May 1st is usually a good benchmark for the changeover, invariably there are some warm or cold days on either side of that date which make for building conditions that are not entirely satisfactory.  The trend is warming, but you may want to consider a sweater for the rest of the week. Please pass this along to all staff as appropriate. Sorry for the inconvenience.
