The fire alarm system in the Orient Building has been restored and the fire watch suspended. There is some ongoing work in this location related to programming details.

Tomorrow (Wednesday 8/27) starting at approximately 7:00 AM, Simplex/Grinnell will be replacing the Fire Alarm Control Panel in the Center West vestibule of the Orient Building. The Fire Alarm System will be taken off line for the duration of this effort, and a Public Safety Fire Watch will be in place. The plan is to keep this entrance open throughout the construction to the extent possible. Please contact Plant Operations at x-2568 with any questions.

System testing last week identified an unreliable component on the fire alarm system in the Orient Building. While the detection equipment and alarm reporting circuits are functional, the internal building annunciation is sporadic. A solution is currently being developed and will be installed on an expedited basis. Until the problem is fully resolved, however, an on-site fire watch will be posted by Public Safety during all hours of building occupancy.
