The long anticipated capital project to improve site safety conditions on the Eastern Campus is finally about to start. Ultimately, the scope of this project has narrowed to include the following elements:
- Lighting Improvements -
- New roadway lighting at the main entrance to the campus
- Replacement of existing light fixtures (heads only) in the E&W parking fields
- New walk lighting around Corchaug Building
- New walk lighting in select areas to supplement existing
- Replacement of roadway lighting on Speonk-Riverhead Rd. adjacent to campus.
- Traffic Safety -
- New flashing caution sign on Speonk-Riverhead Rd. South of the Main Entrance.
- Drainage Repairs -
- Repair of several collapsed storm drain catch basins in E&W parking fields
Tomorrow (Thursday 10/18) from 11am - 12 noon, the Eastern Campus will be subjected to an electrical curtailment, in keeping with SCCC's ongoing involvement in a statewide energy management initiative. During this period, all campus electrical loads (including lighting and HVAC equipment) will be turned off, with the exception of areas of classroom instruction or other processes vital to college business.
